Following the temporary suspension of the Wodonga Sports & Leisure Centre swim school program earlier this year, we are excited to launch a new private swim lesson program that will see children return to swimming from this Saturday (13 June 2020).
With swimming and water safety an essential life skill, this newly launched program has been designed in consultation with industry experts to prepare students for the return of regular swim school programming by providing an opportunity for them to return to the pool in a safe environment.
Targeted at existing students from our Active Level and Squad Based Programs, the private lesson program has been designed with new safety measures in place to support a safe return for students and staff including:
- 45-minute lessons in line with our recently introduced swim session times to help manage our centre’s capacity limit.
- 1:3 instructor to student ratio helping to support safe social distancing and giving each student a greater amount of time with the instructor.
- Dry land instruction only during lessons to help maintain social distancing between students and instructors.
- Dedicated equipment with each student allocated equipment for their personal use that is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected following each lesson.
Eligible students have been contacted via email, with further information regarding our new program also available at our website HERE. Any Active Level or Squad Based Program families who have not received this email are encouraged to contact the centre.
“Our team have missed seeing their students each week and have put a lot of work into supporting their safe return as quickly as possible. This new lesson format creates an exciting opportunity for us to reconnect with students and continue supporting their swimming development.” Said Albury Wodonga Aquatic Facilities Leisure Manager, Troy Mytton.
“While the current restrictions won’t permit our full swim school program to return just yet, this is a positive step towards seeing our students from all program levels return as soon as Government advice permits.” said Mr Mytton.
Our team are continuing to work with relevant industry experts to see the return of our full swim school program, with further information to be provided once available. You are encouraged to follow our social media pages or visit our website for more information.
